Nestled at 3,200 feet in elevation, our cabin offers stunning panoramic views and a serene atmosphere. Cozy well-appointed cabin sleeps 8-10 with 2 bedrooms and loft bedroom to comfortably accommodate families or groups with 2 full baths + a half bath with plenty of space to get ready. A spacious living area to relax by the fireplace and enjoy quality time after a day out visiting the Smoky mountain park or many of the other outdoor attractions available in the Whittier, NC area. The Bear Den / Game Room is loaded with fun for all ages with entertainment options galore including a smart TV, foosball table, board games, dart board, arcade and a bar. Enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the ever-changing panoramic vistas as clouds drift and the morning fog lifts. The large porch has lots of seating, a grill and a dining table, perfect for the whole family to enjoy a meal while taking in the fresh mountain air. Unwind under the stars in the hot tub or have an outdoor family movie night gathered around the fire pit and enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like gooey s'mores, making memories with every bite. Bonus - our retreat is located just 50 minute drive to the Sapphirre Valley Ski Resort in Cashiers and the Cataloochee Ski area in Maggie Valley. Also under a 2 hour drive to the Hatley Pointe ski lodge in Mars Hill. NOTE: Sama Mountain retreat is located at 3200ft in elevation. We highly recommend you have an all terrain or 4x4 vehicle for ease of access.

House Rules

Only registered guests are allowed in the cabin during your stay. Unless with prior approval. Booking guest must be present at check-in. Respect our neighbors. Quiet time between 11pm and 8am. No Smoking of any kind is allowed inside the cabin, inside the game room or on the decks. No vaping, no smoking! Do not instant book if traveling with pets. Pets are only allowed with prior approval. Pet fee is required. No pets on furniture/beds. Guests must pick up after your pet prior to departure. Food and drinks cannot be left outside at anytime. Garbage to be disposed of in the trash bins provided. Do not leave trash bags on deck, outside or in your car.

Amazing location - we hiked 6 different waterfall trails while at this location. Cabin was perfectly situated for day trips into the mountains and various towns to investigate shops and restaurants. Beautiful long range Mountain Views from the cabin and porch. Very comfortable and nice to come back to the game room and hot tub in the evenings. We will stay here again!

Great home and location. Nestled between Bryson City, and Sylva! House sits high on the mountain with great views. The house has everything you would need for your stay! Hot tub and game room were very nice!

Our family had a wonderful long weekend stay at Sama Mountain Retreat. The house mirrored the online description perfectly and exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival, we were pleased to find that the house was already stocked with necessities as well as a thoughtful welcome gift/basket! The host (Carole) was so kind throughout the entire process and made sure we had everything that we needed. During our stay, we spent a majority of our time relaxing in front of the cozy fireplace, enjoying the breathtaking views from the great room, and playing foosball in the game room! If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing mountain getaway- this is the place for you. Thank you Carole!

We had an amazing stay at this home! The house is very cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up — you can really tell the hosts care about their guests. Everything was perfectly clean, well organized, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The game room was a huge bonus and fun for both adults and kids. The views around the house are absolutely beautiful, and we loved spending time outside enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The host was excellent — very responsive, helpful, and quick to answer any questions. Communication was smooth and easy, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable stay!

The owners of Sama Mountain Retreat have created an amazing place to stay. Everything is top-notch, beautiful and comfy. Hearing my 21-year old daughter say, “This is the most beautiful cabin we’ve ever stayed in,” was priceless. We loved the well-equipped kitchen for making memorable meals. We didn’t want to leave the cabin. Everything, including the hot tub, seemed brand new. A detached garage has been transformed into a huge, well-equipped game room: Ms Pac-Man, foosball, air hockey, darts, games, books, etc. The view from the dining room, living room, upstairs den, etc was breathtaking. And the manager was kind, helpful, and responsive by phone or text, 24 hours.

First of all I want to say the kitchen had stuff I don’t even have at home. Anything you would need is there. The home it self and the yard area were exactly what my family needed peaceful, relaxing, and fun. This place is very family friendly not to mention me being able to bring my fur baby and her being greeted with a bag of treats. We love it! I had to contact the host about extending the dates and about some instructions and both times she responded quickly and professionally. All the expectations were met. I highly recommend! Oh and decorations 10/10 loved it!
